So, I love cats. If I could have any pet in the world, I would still pick a cat (though maybe I’d opt for something more exotic like an ocelot). I was surprised to find most of my family with their noses pressed against the windows of our kitchen, so of course, being the curious sort that I am, I asked what they were looking at.
As you may have guessed, it was a kitten. The poor thing was meowing and shaking, so my sister and I went outside to see if momma cat was around. Since there was no sign of her, and our front yard is very close to the road, we decided to take the kitty down to our local pet hospital and ask if they knew of any shelters that would take stray cats.
I was really excited just to hold an adorable kitten, so I held him all the way down to the hospital. We were careful to walk in the shade to keep him cool, and the more we walked, the more I wanted to keep him. He was so small and shaky and I JUST WANTED TO CUDDLE HIM, OKAY.
So we get down there, and we got the information we needed about where to take him. We even got him a little syringe of water to hydrate him, and we began the walk back. As we arrived home, I sent my sister in to call the animal shelter. As soon as she went inside, I saw momma cat slink out from the bushes. I’m kind of relieved that she showed up. I would’ve felt really bad about taking the kitten away from his mother. At least I knew he hadn’t been abandoned.
So, I set him down near the bushes and watched as he waddled his way through the grass; unfortunately, he was waddling towards me, because despite all of his protests and meowing, he apparently took a liking to me. I had to go in the house, and even then he started climbing the steps to our front door. Eventually, he wandered off into the bushes and is now with his mother (hopefully… I don’t hear him meowing outside anymore).
And so ends my short but sweet maternal adventure. If my parents would let me have a cat, I would totally keep him, but I can’t even afford cat food right now. Soooo… that option’s definitely out. Oh well. It was nice while it lasted.
Aww, I want one! Here’s one for you, my dad and I were outside like a month or so ago (?) and he was about to water the flowers next to our garage when he saw a baby deer! I immediately named her Lavender because she was near some purple flowers and she and her mother have been back a few times since! They’re both so beautiful and I was right next to the baby. We’re pretty sure that the mother gave birth to her next to our garage, but we’re not sure. If you ever want, I can totally send you pictures! Let me know!
OMG. Yes, send pictures! I wish I had taken some pictures of the kitten, but I was so overwhelmed with its cuteness and my desire to cuddle it, I completely forgot to take any. Gah!
A cat outside my aunt’s apartment actually had kittens once and my Aunt had to get rid of most of them but she kept the mother and one baby. There was one of the kittens I wanted to keep, but couldn’t, I even named him Moxie. Oh, well!
